The main reason for the creation of most of the veteran organizations we met at the Conference "Partnership Workshop: Getting to Know and Network Veteran Organizations" is the inability to cope with the problems of our close veterans and their families on their own or through existing government procedures.
And these problems are mostly the same and already known.Difficulties with rehabilitation, especially psychological rehabilitation, which makes veterans feel lonely and unfit for a peaceful life after being written off and treated. They face misunderstanding of civilians, a feeling of maladjustment. There are added problems with work, bureaucracy, constant anxiety, difficult relationships within families, feelings of loss of meaning and isolation.
Veterans have changed. Their loved ones have changed. And the state and a certain part of society simply cannot keep up with these changes. That is why more and more veteran organizations are appearing to help solve problems here and now. First of all, these are local communities that unite their own and respond to the urgent needs of veterans in all possible ways.
Responding to these needs, «Veterans’ Hut» not only chose the "Your to Your" approach, but also developed its own method of psychological recovery based on it. After all, it is difficult for even an experienced psychologist to understand and help those who went through hostilities, waited for loved ones from war or captivity and took care of them after serious injuries, or lost a loved one forever. Just because of the lack of such experience.
We believe in our methodology and see its results in the participants and graduates of our program. Already next year, the participants of the First Wave will obtain a master's degree in psychology from Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University and will be able to help veterans and their families in their communities. This is the best advocacy of our methodology, which we present at all possible platforms, in particular during the conference in Lviv.
We all want one thing: that those who defended our country, risking their lives and health, as well as their relatives, feel our gratitude and care not in words, but in deeds. Our defenders should take a worthy place in society and know that they are not alone, even during mobilization and being at the front.
United we will be able to do much more. So we are grateful to IOM Ukraine for the opportunity to find partners and like-minded people and become more institutionally stable. We call on veteran organizations to cooperate in order to achieve our common goal.
Thus, the FB will know that the field of recovery and reintegration of veterans is socially important for Ukrainians. Thank you!
"Workshop of partnerships: acquaintance and networking of veteran organizations" was implemented by BF «Rokada» in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as part of the implementation of the project «Promotion of social cohesion and reintegration of veterans in Ukraine» with the financial support of the EU European Union in Ukraine.
